Welcome to the 19th Medical Student Emergency Abdominal Surgery Course (sEASC). This course is based on the award winning EASC for registrars/junior consultants. The first EASC course was held in Letterkenny, Donegal Ireland in May 2012.
The student course is tailored to curriculum of medical students, and presented by a large international and national faculty of world-leading experts. It is an ideal preparation for those who which to excel at their exams. Since the first course in 2015, sEASC is rated by final meds as one of the best educational event in their student’s curriculum.
Courses in Emergency Surgery are developing with WSES, ESTES in Europe and MOSES in Australia and New Zealand. None have been pitched for the specific need of medical students. sEASC curriculum focuses on the acute abdomen, in a multidisciplinary shared learning approach. It deals with real patients.
It will bring you a level of discussion you have not heard before and enhance your knowledge of presentations, symptoms, signs and management. This course is about the patient and common emergencies. It will help, not only with your exams but as a young doctor. It combines theory with practical cases. Over half of the course will involve discussion between consultants and residents. You will not be put on the spot – to promote a relaxing learning environment.
